LIQS Charity Programs

Many of our members generously donate quilts for the various organizations we support.

LIQS donates quilts to various local long Island charities including: Holly Patterson Geriatric Center, Uniondale; Momma's House, Wantagh; South Nassau Communities Hosp. Pediatrics, Oceanside; NY Family + Childrens’ Assoc., Mineola; Nassau Country Dept. of Social Services babies of drug addiction foster program; Baby Safe Haven; Nassau County Halfway House, Massapequa.

OCTOBER 4, NOVEMBER 1, AND DECEMBER 6, 2025: Join us for a MYSTERY CHARITY SIT & SEW.  Kits will be handed out for you to sew.  Just bring your machine and usual tools. 12 PM start time on Oct. 4 at Merrick Golf Clubhouse, 2550 Clubhouse Rd, Merrick, NY.  Note:  Nov. 1 starts at 10:00 am, Dec. 6 at 12 pm.  Contact Linda Huncharoff.

COMFORT POUCH FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER
Recently, Judy Wollman, invited all members to help brighten the days of young children groing through cancer treatment by creating COMFORT POUCHES filled with small gifts and comfort items. THE PATTERN AND PICTURE OF ONE CAN BE FOUND BELOW IN PATTERNS.
     The focus is on children from Birth to 8 Years Old.  Suggested items are:  Soft plush toys, Soft picture books, Crayons and Coloring books, Pacifiers, Rattles, Bubbles, Toy Cars, Play Dough.  (Give to Linda Huncharoff, our new Charity VP)



January 27,  2025:  Was a fun event with lunch! As a result of this Sit & Sew day, Judy Wollman has been able to donate 15 quilts to Momma's House and 10 quilts to Veterans Service Agency along with 1 wheelchair quilt and 1 walker caddy bag.  
      The Nassau County SPCA  received 15 dog mats and The Guide Dog Foundation was also gifted with 5 cozy dog mats!  26" x 39" cotton, fleece or flannel with cotton batting.

April 2024
Judy Wollman reported that 20 quilts were donated to Nassau County Foster Children.  She included 3 drawstring backpacks!  

November 2023
Charity Chair, Judy Wollman, announced new donations from LIQS members.  Contributions were: 33 Walker Caddy Bags and 4 Wheelchair Quilts to our local Veterans Services Agency, 10 Baby Quilts to AMT Children Hope Baby Safe House, and 12 quilts and 10 pillowcases to Momma's House.  Their dedication and hard work are simply outstanding!!

February 2023

We recently created 50 walker caddy bags and they were delivered to a local veterans organization.
We also delivered 77 pillowcases to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island
